Jill Stuart Blush Blossom 01 in Romantic Sweet Pea

Recently my friend Matt, who resides Japan, helped me haul over a bunch of Japanese cosmetics when his brother visited him in Japan. I hauled four items, and here is one of them! This is the new-for-spring Jill Stuart Blush Blossom in 01, Romantic Sweet Pea. I’ve used the items so many times that I completely forgot to post about them. This is really a lovely lovely set, with a ton of product in it, beaaaaaaautiful packaging, and an adorable brush. States-wise it’ll probably cost you about $60 (YesStyle.com has it in stock), but it is totally worth it.
The compact itself is made of two sides with a lovely springy film on top. I’ve seen this film on loose powder foundations and whatnot before from earlier generations of Shiseido and Shu Uemura products, so it isn’t really a new thing in Asian cosmetics. It does a decent job of keeping the powder in the compact but allowing you to pick up plenty of it when you press down on it.
The pigmentation on the darker side of those beautiful loose blush duo is absolutely amazing. I have to be a bit light-handed with it or it seriously looks clown-ish. Luckily if you overdo it, the left is a very light, very subtle baby pink with a beautiful pearl sheen that would even out the look nicely.

The brush is quite a nice soft goat hair brush. I can’t say much about it except it’s shaped kind of densely, like a small kabuki. It’s easy to pick up too much product with it, but I usually dab it on the provided tray (see where it’s so pink?) to even it out first before using it. The bow attached to this brush is way too freakin’ cute!
My only concern with this compact is that the loose powder will get everywhere if you travel with it, so this is a compact best kept at home. It definitely won’t travel well.
Other than that though, I’m really pleased with this purchase. It’s very lovely and natural looking even on my relatively dark skin tone (in Japan and Taiwan I am seriously considered dark. No really.), which is surprising. I was worried that a blush from Japan, which is full of pale-skinned beauties, would look too light and garish on me, but it blends in beautifully and doesn’t turn dull throughout the day. It has pretty good staying power, and is overall a beautiful and worthwhile purchase. Firedawn rating A.
