Coffee break by the library.

These shoes conspired to kill me. I lived in constant fear today of breaking my ankles. But Sir Teddy comforted me. Isn’t he cute? Every time I switch purses I will always take him with me on the new purse. Even if I forget my wallet. Or planner. What can I say? Teddy bears are cute. I’m wearing make up from the Smashbox Spring In Bloom palette which I love, and a Jill Stuart blush from Japan that I am loving so much (thanks Matt!).

Dress and stockings, Zara. Necklaces, Etsy and H&M. White large cocktail ring, H&M. Cardigan, H&M.
Flower ring, Forever 21. Purse, Coach. Sir Knight bear keychain, MAC Holiday 2010.
Cardigan, Forever 21. Belt, off another dress from Japan. Evil shoes, from DSW.

Precious dresses.

From the Marc Jacobs Resort 2011 Collection.

Despite the fact that this dress is completely obnoxious and overly-precious, it certainly has made its way around the arena this year. I believe Kate Hudson, Natalie Portman, among others have worn it. Despite the fact that I could probably never wear this in real life, it’s still a beautiful statement piece.

What do you think, too much?

Nautical and leather look of the day/outfit of the day.

A good look doesn’t always have to take forever to put together. Outfit and make up for today’s look only took me ten minutes and a little bit of forethought while showering! This is a perfect day look for going to class or work.

The key for a good outfit is to have good, basic items that go together for a full outfit that flatter your figure, Now I have a very thin figure already, but my main concern is to hide a bit of a belly (since I’m so small, any belly on me is noticeable), and my small chest makes me more bottom heavy so I have to balance it out. To help with this problem I have a lovely bulky faux-leather jacket by BDG from Urban Outfitters. A thing to look for in a jacket is something that balances out the bottom half of your outfit, as this does.

This is a great jacket because as you can see in this above picture, it cinches my waistline nicely and keeps my belly under control, and it bulks up my top half to balance out my rather bulky comfortable jeans (by True Religion). The jacket also goes with just about every single dress I own.

The make up look was also very simple—I spent 5 minutes to apply foundation and powder with appropriate primer and things to make sure my make up will last all day–in fact, these photos are taken after about 6 hours.

I primed my eye with Too Face Shadow Insurance to ensure that my eyeliner won’t transfer to crease, applied a skin-tone eyeshadow and a teal eyeliner (review on this later—it’s the L’Oreal gel liner), and swept on a bit of MAC Blushbaby blush, and I was done with a bit of lip balm. An easy, natural look, with a bit of interest in the color-liner that’s still subtle and work-appropriate.

One note on these quick 5 minute looks is that you should probably fill in your eyebrows–I am blessed with incredibly full and dark eyebrows so I don’t always have to fill them in when I’m doing a light look like this, but this is not always true for everyone.

What do you think? What are your really quick get ready in 5 minute tricks?

Super rainy day.

It’s pouring outside, by any standards, and my umbrella nearly blew inside out! After a night of (blissfully dry) glamor, it is quite disheartening to be drudging through the rain to go from class to class. I’m thankful for this hour of break between my two classes today, and I braved the winds and the wet to get to my favorite spot on campus, the North Campus Cafe. It’s a cafeteria with a lovely fire blazing away and I am just here enjoying a Styrofoam bowl of hot cream of mushroom soup and bracing myself for my next class, all the while reading one of my favorite books in the world, Patricia C. Wrede’s Dealing with Dragons. I don’t care if it’s a childish book at all.

At least my Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows has shipped and should be here within a week! I can’t wait to review it for you guys.

Until then, hopefully this picture will warm you up.

All my love,
Firedawn.

If you must know, I’m wearing Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer, NARS Orgasm, a touch of brown liner and mascara, and the Rodarte for Target tshirt. Not that you can see the printed lace patterns.
